Araxur 10-Hour Bossing Guide - Old School RuneScape
Welcome to the ultimate guide for tackling Araxur in Old School RuneScape! Whether you're a seasoned Slayer or just starting to explore bossing, Araxur offers both a rewarding and challenging experience. In this guide, I'll take you through my personal setup and strategy to kill Araxur for 10 hours straight, as well as tips to maximize your loot, Slayer XP, and fun. For players looking to jump right into high-level PvM content without the grind, some choose to buy OSRS Accounts that are already trained and quest-ready-just be sure to do so safely and within the game's rules.
What You'll Need:
To tackle Araxur, you need level 92 Slayer and an Araxur task. You'll also want to be familiar with the mechanics of the fight, as Araxur is no pushover. Below is a breakdown of the gear and supplies I use.
Gear Setup:
Melee Gear:
· Slayer Helmet (Best-in-slot for Slayer tasks)
· Torture Necklace (For increased Strength and Attack)
· Fire Cape (Provides Prayer bonus and decent defence)
· Abyssal Bludgeon (My weapon of choice for maximum DPS)
Other Gear:
· Bandos Chestplate & Tassets (High defence and offensive bonuses)
· Ferocious Gloves (Best-in-slot for Strength bonuses)
· Primordial Boots (For maximum Strength bonus)
· Lightbearer Ring (Best-in-slot for special attack energy regeneration)
O If you don't have Lightbearer, use a Ring of Vigour to save special attack energy.
Ranged Switch:
· Karil's Crossbow (Ranged setup for dealing with the Mirrorback Spider minion)
Special Weapon:
· Dragon Warhammer (For reducing Araxur's defence with its special attack)
Inventory Setup:
· Extended Antivenom (To prevent poison from venomous attacks)
· Super Combat Potions (For boosting your combat stats)
· Prayer Potions (To sustain your prayers throughout the trip)
· Food (For combo eating - I recommend Sharks or Rocktails)
· Teleport Tablets (To get to the boss location)
· Divine Rune Pouch (For casting Thral, which boosts your DPS)
· Book of the Dead (To cast Ths)
Alternate Gear Setup Options:
If you don't have the gear I use, here are some alternative setups:
· Scythe of Vitur or Inquisitor's Mace (Both are excellent alternatives if you have them)
· Elder Maul (Can be used as a spec weapon for increased damage)
· Noxious Scythe (Best-in-slot if you have access to it)
Remember, you don't need the absolute best gear to succeed here. My personal setup is a mix of decent gear that gets the job done!
The Araxur Fight Mechanics:
Araxur is no ordinary boss - it has several unique phases and minions that add layers of complexity to the fight. Here's what to expect:
Minions:
1. Green Minion - Ignore this one, as it doesn't do much harm.
2. Mirrorback Spider (White Minion) - Use Vengeance to easily deal with this one. Alternatively, switch to Ranged and use a Karil's Crossbow or Heavy Ballista.
3.Red Spider - This one is helpful! If you time it right, the Red Spider will deal 80 damage to Araxur, helping you out during the fight.
Getting to Araxur:
You have several options to get to Araxur's lair:
1.Dragon's Medallion - Teleport to the Theater of Blood, then run north to the Spider Cave.
2.Al Kharid Fairy Ring - Use this ring, then run south to the Spider Cave.
3.Spider Cave Teleport (Fastest) - If you have this, simply teleport right into the cave.
Once you're at the cave, make sure to wear Prayer Protection and bring Antipoison as Araxur's minions can deal poison damage.
The Fight - What to Do:
When you enter the Spider Cave, the fight begins immediately. Here's my basic strategy:
1.Pre-fight Preparation:
O Activate Protect from Melee prayer as soon as you enter the cave.
O Pot up with Super Combat Potions and Extended Antivenom.
O Use Thral for increased damage.
2.The Battle:
O Start by using your Dragon Warhammer spec on Araxur to reduce its defence.
O Switch to your Abyssal Bludgeon or whichever melee weapon you prefer for the main DPS.
O Avoid special attacks! Araxur will occasionally send out poison puddles. Move out of the way to avoid damage.
O Deal with the White Spider Minion using Vengeance or Ranged.
O The Red Spider can be used to deal damage to Araxur by running away from it at the right time.
O Keep an eye on your Prayer and use Prayer Potions when needed.
3.Final Phase:
O As Araxur gets to its final phase, move out of the way of its poison attacks.
O At this point, you can focus solely on damage while making sure to avoid the poison puddles.
O After you kill Araxur, loot the drops, and prepare for the next kill!
Loot and Rewards:
During my 10-hour session of killing Araxur, I completed 248 kills and earned about 11.5 million GP in loot. However, the real money comes from landing the Arachite Fang or the Halberd parts.
· Halberd Parts - When combined, these create the Noxious Halberd, which is worth 47 million GP on the Grand Exchange.
· Arachite Fang - Used to craft the Amulet of Rancor, worth 63 million GP.
· Miscellaneous Drops - You'll also get alkable items like runes, seeds, and rare drops that can be useful for your account or if you're an Ironman.
Over 10 hours, I gained 423,000 Slayer XP, and I consistently get 2-3 kills per trip, making this a solid Slayer training method as well!
Conclusion:
Araxur is a fun and challenging boss to fight, with a high skill ceiling and the potential for big rewards. With the right gear and a solid strategy, you can make some decent money while racking up Slayer XP. If you don't have top-tier gear, don't worry-you can still make it work. As always, be prepared to react quickly to Araxur's special attacks and minions. If you're not quite at level 92 Slayer yet and want to speed things up, using an OSRS Power Leveling Service can be a helpful way to reach the requirement faster and jump into the action. So, if you've got the 92 Slayer requirement, give Araxur a try! Whether you're after loot or just the experience, this boss will definitely keep you on your toes.
Good luck out there, and happy slaying!
