Old School RuneScape: Morning’s End Part I Quest Guide

Morning’s End Part I is an important mid-game quest in Old School RuneScape that advances the long-running elf storyline and unlocks access to the elven city of Lletya. Completing the quest rewards players with 40,000 Thieving XP, 25,000 Hitpoints XP, two Quest Points, and an elf teleport crystal that makes travel across Tirannwn significantly easier, and it can also save time for players looking to buy OSRS gold to enhance their progress efficiently.

Requirements and Preparation

Before starting the quest, you must complete three prerequisite quests: Roving Elves, Big Chompy Bird Hunting, and Sheep Herder. You will also need at least 60 Ranged and 50 Thieving.

Bring the following items: two silk, bear fur, normal leather, a bucket of water, a feather, magic logs, and roughly 10,000 coins. You’ll also need an ogre bellows, Toad crunchies (or a premade Toad crunch), and a barrel of naphtha if you already created one during Regicide. If you do not have a barrel of naphtha, bring 12 noted coal and an antipoison potion to craft it later.

Recommended supplies include stamina potions for the long running sections and several pieces of high-healing food for navigating the elf traps and defeating a level-11 Mourner enemy. Equip lightweight gear or minimal equipment so you can easily wear mourner clothing obtained during the quest.

Traveling to the Quest Start

Begin by traveling to the Tirannwn region. A convenient method is teleporting to Camelot and running south to the charter ship docks, then chartering a vessel to Port Tyras. From there, run northeast into Tyras Camp and move through the surrounding dense forest.

If you do not yet have a barrel of naphtha, pick up two empty barrels inside the camp before continuing deeper into the forest. You’ll eventually reach a swamp where bubbling tar can be collected. Use the barrels on the bubbling tar to create barrels of coal tar.

After collecting the tar, navigate back through the forest traps until you reach a clearing where the elf leaders appear. Speak with the elves to begin the quest. After a brief cutscene and dialogue, you will be transported to the elven settlement of Lletya and given a teleport crystal for fast travel within Tirannwn.

Obtaining the Mourner Disguise

Your next task involves infiltrating the mourners operating in West Ardougne. Use a Necklace of Passage to teleport to the outpost, then head west toward the large gate. Mourner guards patrol this area, and you must defeat one to obtain a disguise.

Be careful: the mourner can drain all of your combat stats to level 20 if it hits you. Try to defeat it quickly. After killing it, collect the mourner gloves, boots, cape, mask, and other clothing pieces it drops. Equip what you can and read the mourner letter for additional quest progression.

To restore your drained stats, teleport to the Ferox Enclave and use the Pool of Refreshment.

Repairing the Uniform

Next, travel to Taverley and speak with Tegid. Search the nearby laundry basket to steal soap and use it on the bloody mourner top to clean it. You can now wear the top as part of the disguise.

Teleport back to Lletya and visit the crafting shop. Speak with Oronwen, who will repair the mourner trousers using your silk and bear fur. While in the shop, purchase red, yellow, blue, and green dyes—two of each color.

With your full mourner uniform equipped, teleport to West Ardougne and enter the Mourner Headquarters. Climb down the trapdoor and speak with the mourner leader, who assigns you tasks related to maintaining the city’s fake plague.

Freeing the Captured Gnome

Inside the dungeon, you will encounter a tortured gnome strapped to a rack. Speak with him about Toad crunchies and tickling, then use your feather on him. After releasing the gnome, he repairs a broken device using your leather and magic logs. This device will later be used to recolor sheep.

Catching and Dyeing Swamp Toads

Travel to the swamp near Castle Wars or the Feldip Hills to collect swamp toads. Use dyes on your ogre bellows and inflate swamp toads to create colored ammunition for the device. You should end up with eight colored toads: two each of red, yellow, green, and blue.

Teleport to the Fishing Guild and use the repaired device to fire the colored toads at groups of sheep. Carefully aim so that each sheep group matches its correct color. Because you only have two attempts per color, take your time lining up each shot.

Poisoning the Food Supply

Return to West Ardougne and continue working for the mourners. Gather rotten apples from the orchard and mash them in an apple press. Mix the mashed apples with your barrel of naphtha to create a toxic compound, then filter it into toxic powder.

Use the powder to contaminate grain sacks in both the central building and the church. This sabotage advances the mourners’ scheme while helping you gain their trust.

Completing the Quest

Finally, return to the mourner dungeon and report back. After learning about their search for an underground temple, teleport to Lletya and speak with Arianwyn. Through dialogue, the elves deduce that the mourners are searching for the legendary Temple of Light. This revelation concludes the quest. You will receive 40,000 Thieving XP, 25,000 Hitpoints XP, two Quest Points, and permanent access to Lletya along with the elf teleport crystal—an extremely useful transportation tool for future adventures in Tirannwn. Completing this quest efficiently can also save you time and resources, allowing you to invest in cheap RS gold to further enhance your in-game progress.
